What is a metasearch engine?


A metasearch engine is a search tool that uses databases of several engines to synthesize the most relevant possible.
ApocalX Search uses databases of Google, Bing and Yahoo! Search via their respective APIs.

Is it not forbidden to use the databases of other search engines?


No! It is prohibited to use the results pages of search engines automatically. However, some search engines have put in place "APIs" for developers, which are gateways that allow to directly question their databases without going through the results pages that all users use usual.
Theses Apis are used by ApocalX Search.


The different search modes of ApocalX Search


ApocalX Mix
Default mode of ApocalX Search, ApocalX Mix provides a summary of results given by Google, Yahoo and Bing! with adding specific criteria ApocalX Search to improve relevance.

ApocalX Triad
Because 3 are better than one, ApocalX Triad mode offers the results given by Google, Yahoo and Bing in the same page. Pages found in at least 2 of these engines appear in a different color to show that this is certainly a relevant result.
